The Ideal Graduate: Cultivating Qualities and Skills in Our 200HR Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga teacher training programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to teach yoga to others. However, at Rare, we believe that being a great yoga teacher requires more than just technical proficiency. We strive to cultivate qualities and skills in our trainees that will enable them to be effective and compassionate leaders who can adapt to the diverse needs of their students.

In this blog post, we'll explore the qualities and skills that we prioritise in our 200HR yoga teacher training program, as described by our teaching team. By the end of this post, you'll have a deeper understanding of what the ideal graduate of our Rare 200HR Yoga Teacher Training program embodies.

Empowerment and Inclusivity

Our ideal graduate feels empowered to see beyond a cookie-cutter approach to teaching yoga, and is able to adapt the practice to support the needs of all bodies. They are smart enough to recognise the gaps in their knowledge and open to learning more. – Vicki Smart

Authenticity and Personal Growth

Our ideal graduate is able to walk away from our program feeling safe and centred –  confident in their personal life and in their teaching. They are able to embody the skills learned in training, and use them to navigate life’s ups and downs. They are able to share a well rounded practice, that encompasses the many facets of yoga. – Sarah Routhier

Connection and Leadership

Our ideal graduate feels supported, inspired and motivated to explore the vast system of yoga, and share their own expression of the practice. They have the courage to live and teach from the heart, and honour their place as a student. – Tash Pinter

Curiosity and Growth

Our ideal graduate relentlessly pursues personal progress. They use the tools embodied in their yoga training to strive for a deeper connection with themselves and others, and remain playful and curious. – Cathleen Santoso

Consciousness and Self-Study

Our ideal graduate is curious, clear, empathetic and conscious. They leave training with less chaos, and more kindness. They honour their teachers, use the lens of yoga to deepen their self-awareness, and have a burning desire to serve the world. – Rachael Coopes

By exploring qualities and skills such as empowerment, authenticity, connection, curiosity, and self-study, our yoga teacher training program aims to create graduates who are equipped to make a positive impact on the world through the practice of yoga.

We hope that this exploration of the qualities and skills we prioritise has given you a deeper understanding of what we're trying to share and that it inspires you on your own journey towards becoming an effective and compassionate human being and yoga teacher.
